CUCHULAIN
*Irish
Cuchulain is the hero of the Ulter Cycle of Irish stories, which are
full of fighting and bloodshed. He was known as the Hound of Ulster
because he accidentally killed the watchdog belonging to Culann, a
blacksmith, and as penance had to take the dog's place for a time.
When fighting, Cuchulain was terrifying: one eye bulged and the other
shrank into his head; his mouth gaped, his hair bristled and a column
of dark blood rose up from his head.
